Two new HP LP2065 monitors

Following on from the new computer, two-thirds (or possibly one-half) of my monitors have arrived, finally! Backordering can be painful sometimes. They're two 20.1" Hewlett-Packard LP2065 monitors S-IPS panels; all part of my evil plan.

With a native resolution of 1600×1200, that should help with my desktop real estate issues (effectively 3200×1200). The anti-theft feature is a nice idea, but I really appreciate the dual dual-link DVI connectivity.

I have a bit of saving to do before this is done…

  1. I can understand the Dual Dual-Link DVI Cable connectors. I use one lot to my Gaming machine and the other lot to my working PC (if only there was a way to change the input of both monitors at once!). About the time you bought them (going on the date of the post... I was sporting myself two of these: http://www.dell.com/au/enterprise/p/dell-u2711/pd :-) Giving me a resolution across two of 5120x1440

I did actually look at Dell kit, despite having a hatred for Dell (but I'm not sure where it comes from, really, but it's a very old hate). I couldn't find anything that were S-IPS, the same PPI, very similar colour gamuts, and would work seamlessly in a triple-head scenario with two rotated monitors flanking a larger widescreen monitor (Portrait mode is underrated, but you need another normal screen for it to work properly). They're nice screens though, and despite being a bit uneasy about Dell's hardware in general, I think their monitors are reasonable. Do the H-IPS panels look _too_ bright and fuzzy though? I find S-IPS panels are a bit darker (actually good for me), but the pixels are a bit sharper.
  3. Very nice, sir. I am about to buy a second HP LP2065 to run alongside my current one. I will then have them mounted to the wall instead of the base, as the monitor I'll be buying is second hand and does not have a base. I will run them at 3200x1200 resolution, hopefully my GTX 570 can crank out some decent graphics while using the dual display. Thanks for the inspiration!
