Things are going well, albeit slower than I would have hoped. Starting a business in Belgium is a lot more tedious than in other countries, but then again they have a much lower rate of failure for small businesses here.
I didn't manage to post a “benespection” at all last year, and to be honest I've been keeping my head down and getting things done so I haven't spotted much worth taking a photo of, let alone actually taken the photo.
A common sight in Belgium: While Jupiler is supposed to be the best selling beer in Belgium, it doesn't make it the best beer. It's horrible. Oh, and smashed car windows are on the rise.
Crossing through a little park on Rue du Miroir (near de Gare Bruxelles-Chapel) I spotted evidence of what the birds get up to in the morning. Clearly nobody had walked through here all day as the entire snow-covered park was littered with random cuneiform conversations.
During the computer build I bought lots of smaller parts using eBay to save money. This has to be the most creative (slapped together) packaging effort I've seen so far!
In early September last year the main road through the city centre in Brussels was blocked off from what appeared to be a gas leak. With six appliances attending, and a whole squad of guys from the gas company, they weren't mucking around. There have been quite a few fires in the area recently, including one near the old stock exchange, one in the metro station near our apartment, two in the same building just around the corner from us, and most recently at the courthouse. It's unusual.
If it helps, it was spotted on March 10, 2011, but judging by the state of it I’d say it was there for some time before that.
It’s clearly the Gulf of Finland, but the only thing close to such a specific coordinate looks like it might be a buoy ~200m south of the location (http://map.openseamap.org/map/index.php?lat=60.141561&lon=24.948611&zoom=15). I don’t know how to read sea charts though! :)
I’m still confused as to what any of that has to do with Place Royale :)
