Benespection

Belgium Belgium

Things are going well, albeit slower than I would have hoped. Starting a business in Belgium is a lot more tedious than in other countries, but then again they have a much lower rate of failure for small businesses here.

I didn't manage to post a “benespection” at all last year, and to be honest I've been keeping my head down and getting things done so I haven't spotted much worth taking a photo of, let alone actually taken the photo.

Smashed car window
A common sight in Belgium: While Jupiler is supposed to be the best selling beer in Belgium, it doesn't make it the best beer. It's horrible.
Oh, and smashed car windows are on the rise.
Bird feet in the snow
Crossing through a little park on Rue du Miroir (near de Gare Bruxelles-Chapel) I spotted evidence of what the birds get up to in the morning. Clearly nobody had walked through here all day as the entire snow-covered park was littered with random cuneiform conversations.
Best eBay packaging I've seen so far
During the computer build I bought lots of smaller parts using eBay to save money. This has to be the most creative (slapped together) packaging effort I've seen so far!
Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier blocked due to fire hazard
Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier blocked due to fire hazard
In early September last year the main road through the city centre in Brussels was blocked off from what appeared to be a gas leak. With six appliances attending, and a whole squad of guys from the gas company, they weren't mucking around. There have been quite a few fires in the area recently, including one near the old stock exchange, one in the metro station near our apartment, two in the same building just around the corner from us, and most recently at the courthouse. It's unusual.
60.141561ºN 24.948611ºE
I spotted this on the ground in a corner on Place Royale, with nothing around it to indicate what it is. After a brief investigation, 60º08'29.62"N 24º56'55.14"E takes you just off the coast of Finland near Helsinki.
Does anyone know what this is?
